The one I have been looking at is $1200.00 whsc. Its a beauty very classy looking. The collectors just don't care for the smaller bodies and say they don't look right. Also they say the tone is too thin.Bah I like the hell put of it.
I may trade my 91 Ibanez silver snake for it this Sat.

Find an '84 Explorer on e-bay the ones with no pickguard, or this http://www.gibson.com/en%2Dus/Divisi...orer%2DWeek47/

I owned a '83 black Explorer until the neck broke. I thought they played just fine the neck was a little thick for my taste though.

            couldn't agree more......

it is a bad mother, but i wanted the shape more than anything else. the pick-ups need something, probably a change.

Kelly User you know an RS guitarworks pot upgrade kit and it will be a monster.
Jaydog I played it today and couldn't work out a trade deal.
Guitar sales has been slow for me and there is so much cool stufff out there to buy.

i've been considering it. the lows are muddy the mids aren't pronounced and the highs seem to get lost in the pick-ups. but i have no idea what i'm doing with a solder gun, so it'll have to wait for another day.

I picked up one at the GC, and couldn't believe how sticky the neck was. I'd watch out for that, if that might be an issue for you. I couldn't even change they key I was playing in because my hand got locked into a position on the neck! :ROTF:

a little scotch brite on the neck cures all that very nicely. I like the Explorers, and I'd likely jump on one if I had money to spare
