If I could do what you are going, I would leave it a Hobie skateboard. I just love the way it looks now. Forget the paint. It looks just awesome . I just love looking at my POS Memphis.

i hear what you're saying. i love the way it looks aux naturale, but I have a natural mahogany Dean V and a Jackson natural korina KV2.....so no more naturals

i think ill leave the back trans-black, so i can still appreciate the grain

What about having just the top painted inside the binding? Best of both worlds...I love it natural, BTW. A natural burst would rock, also.

and leave the sides and back natural?

i dunno, the idea behind the paint was the top is white and the black will look like a "burn" (like burnt paper). the back should be black like the burn is spreading to the top - at least that was the concept behind the paint

Not that much of a fan of the variation on the pointy V look, but the construction and woods look beautiful!

It frosts me when people change their minds right in the middle of a build. You spend hours talking with them to see just what they want and then they have a brain fart and change everything.
                  Really? well screw Mark Twain.

Looks great, Mat, but what's happening with the lock-nut now then?

I agree. I never really liked those Dean type headstocks either.
