New Floyded Suhr Pro Series

I received an email from Suhr last night regarding 2 new FLOYDED Pro Series models.

The new Pro S5 and S6 are the Floyd Rose versions of the S3 and S4. These new models will feature the Gotoh Floyd (which will also replace the Floyd Rose Original in our Custom guitars) with a straight 14” radius across the fingerboard. We really like the construction quality and also the sleek lower profile look of the Gotoh Floyd over the Original.

The S5 and S6 models will also feature two humbuckers – the SSH+ in the bridge position and the SSV in the neck position (John’s two favorite humbuckers). Since the Pro Series guitar bodies feature the universal HSH rout, a customer could easily change to other pickup configurations if needed.

Pretty pricey for a guitar with a licensed Floyd.
Why did they drop the OFR?

Correct, 22 frets. They are working on a 24-fret model, but I don't think it will hit until NAMM 2008. Also, the 24-fret option on other models (aside from the specific one that will be coming out) is a ways off.

+1 That's what I though too. I'd rather have an OFR, but if they are going downhill for some reason, I go for a hardtail first!

Cost, plain and simple. The Suhr Pro line is about a streamlined product, to be produced with no mods the specs they offeer are IT. Quick to market at a reasonable cost.

However, many high manufacturers push the mid-rangy quality of basswood as a good base for their FMT or QMT guitars. Suhr and Tom Anderson being two big pushers that come to mind right away.

I prefer to saty away from BW. I've found it irregular and several guitars with a BW body I just never bonded with. On top of that I was always worried about bumping the damned thing since BW is a softer wood.

Gotoh Floyd? Please.....they like what the cheaper Floyd does to their bottom line, bugger how it looks. Way too much for an otherwise nice guitar without an OFR.

suhr guitars are way to pricey. hell, you can get a u.s.a. soloist for a lower price than a suhr.

Goodness, this is what I´ve been hoping for! Time to check the budget and work one of those mapleboarded S6´s in there...
