  • Repairing an Epiphone SG

Today I went to the Music store in Cologne Germany. And I spend some time looking at their second hand and damaged department searching for a cool deal. And I found a brand new Epiphone SG that didn't really made it through the journey from the Factory to the store unscaved.

When I got it home I took it apart and cleaned the break area, discovering that it wasn't going to be a difficult repair. I took out my trusty tube of Construction tix (the same stuff they use in building wooden houses) and clamped the whole thing solid.

I'll keep you guys informed on how this repair progresses.

that could turn out really nice.

the break area just looks like the glue separated.
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

I will put on a larger pickguard because the area where the break was has some nasty looking chips in the finish and the little piece of plastic that goes between the butt-end of the fingerboard and the neck pickup is missing.

I tried it and the pickguard fits no problem, the pickups are in exactly the same position. It will look like this when finished.

Here's the guitar with the pickguard on to test if it fits, no problem at all as you can see.

Love Construction tix, it dries fast and it binds better than superglue. If all goes well I could string it up tomorrow.

I strung it up and took it to rehearsal, it plays just fine and as you can see from the pictures the strings line up just perfectly. I now only need to touch up the spots where the finish chipped and polish it to shine.
