  • New Warmoth parts guitar

    I finally put this together...

    Specs:

Body: Warmoth two piece White Korina back, Black Korina top, natural Danish oil finish (3 coats)
Neck: Maple/Maple Warmoth compound radius oversize Strathead, 6105 stainless steel frets
Pickups: Dimarzio Air Zone bridge, 2 Virtual Vintage Heavy Blues 2 neck/middle
    Trem: Recessed Floyd Rose Original
    Tuners: Schaller

This is my first parts guitar, and I'm hooked... It plays and sounds as good as anything I've ever played. Also, this is the first time I've tried the Air Zone and it is a great pickup. Dimarzio suggested this pickup based on the types of wood used and I'm glad they did... harmonics leap off the fretboard, and it is very open sounding.

Thanks for the complients guys. I would estimate it cost around $900 total to build, including all the oil, screws, pots, strap locks, tuners, etc... that little stuff adds up too!

Fortunately though, I had an extra Floyd lying around and the neck was purchased about 4 yrs ago. The cost was spread out over quite a while... That makes it alot easier to take. Still much cheaper than buying something with the same specs from major manufacturer though.

The best thing to do if you're interested in putting a guitar together from parts is to browse the showcase section of Warmoth's site. There are good deals to be had if you're patient.

I love building mutts.Very rewarding hobby.Just wait until the body and neck figure out they are a guitar and start vibrating as a unit. You think it sounds good now just wait.
                    Really? well screw Mark Twain.

killer top, it has a classy look to it, I wouldnt change a thing (except an extra 2 frets would be ok)

That's very cool. Not much of a fan of oversized Stratheads but overall it looks awesome.

                            Ear's up to you, sir!
Any thoughts on a headstock insignia?
I'm slowly doing homebrew guitars, but I have
no clue on how to photoshop a logo and getting it on the headstock...
