It doesnt sound like anything right now as I have the pots out I'm replacing the electronics & wiring with RS Guitar works upgrade kit. I decided to bypass the varitone, the coil tap and phase switches as I'd never use them anyway.
The profile of the neck is comfortable to me but I love fat-ass necks. It widens up the where the neck meets the body. The Special X mock has a little beefier neck profile than this one. If your into the super thin Jackson and Ibanez Wizard necks it might take a while getting used to. All of my necks I ordered from Musikraft are fat (just my preference) so I'm already used to it.
btw...I never played one of these before I bought this one. I got it used on eBay so I figured ifI didnt like it I could find a home for her and not lose any coin on it.shawnlutz.com

Chris, I still like it and both of my import mocks are geting more attention than my strats at the moment. I like the 24 frets and its my only 24 fretter.I did the RS upgrade kit on the pot/switch/output and it really sounds nicer with the DiMarzios in it. It really is a very comfortable feeling guitar and easy to play. It has a nice neck-thru sustain. Its a fairly heavy guitar but it has the tone but it seems like I'm always attracted to them heavier guitars for some reason.
Go check them out and don't let that little sticker that says made in korea fool ya I'm sure there is some crappy ones out there but I'm 2 for 2 on these. I think they are helluva buys for the money. Mine are the 2007 models but the previous NJ models are nice as well. GC overstockes on them and were blowingthem out for luke 300 bucks or something last Christmas so there maybe another sale about to happen.
I ended up throwing a set of Duncans in the SPX Mock yesterday. Here's the pair.

Good to hear. Those are beauts!! I wish the GC's (ALL 4 OF THEM ) around here would have a few more of these... I haven't seen an ST in person yet. I have played a couple of the exotics though, and the Rockfield p'ups seem to be worth looking into. I may try a couple of them in the bridges of my Deans if the spirit ever moves me.
I'm actually becoming fairly impressed with the gear coming out of Korea these days. It's the Chinese stuff I get leery about... After I find the right Dean V, a 'Bird will be on the list.

Great to hear about these Shawn, I've never had a BCR, these sound great, I agree about the increasing Korea quality, I noticed this on the Schecters when I worked at GC (holy run-on sentence Batman!) I just wish it had the pointy headstock or better yet offer a Stealth version, that would RULE!"Quiet, numbskulls, I'm broadcasting!" -Moe Howard, "Micro-Phonies" (1945)
