  • Why I love thriftstores

I was going to buy a 1968 Takemine Law Suit Martin for $199 at a Value Village. It was a sweet guitar. But they sold it yesterday. So I go to the St. Vinnies next door. And found this. It's a 1966 Harmony H945 in near mint condition. It came with the original case and a very cool strap. The best part is it only cost $42.00. It's just neato.:ROTF: And I get to play with my fancy new camera.

It has real binding. Some dude yesterday just wanted to buy the case.:ROTF: They would not split it up. Thank goodness. $42 is chump change. It was marked $79.99 but it was Half Price Day. The case is worth $42.

Nice snag, Fett. I started out on a Harmony Les Paul copy, YEARS AGO. I think I got the only one that played like a dream, cause my brothers played like ass, which is rather appropriate, now that I think about it, cause he IS an ass.

I was being fett at Value Village and doing my Viking god-like rant. They all love it when I do that. :ROTF: Turns out the manager there knows guitars . Well, when I snagged this one next door, I just had to show it to her. She was aghast and agog. Boy. Did I show her or what?:ROTF: :ROTF: :ROTF:

                    real nice looking guitar there

I have a early 60's hofner congress that looks identical to that , does anyone know why the f-hole design fell out of fashion never to return? (despite paul gilberts valiant efforts!)

It was the jazz craze in the 40's that f-holes were hot because they produced more sound and they looked like small stand-up basses. This is before pups. Not only that. They have a unique sound. So, in the '50's and '60's they, Harmony, cranked out a ton of them. And then the fucking folk singers came along with their round hole Martins and fucked the f's out of the f-holes. Or something like that.

The neck is rather beefy. I have big meat hooks, so that's fine.:ROTF: The back has the same look as the front.
