People over there appear to have put Duncan Distortions without any trouble, but Blackouts are a little bigger. I figured they'd be the people to ask, but if it's just full of "Dean FTW" kids I may as well just remove the existing pickups and check for myself.

    Thanks,

    Ken

Yeah, there are still some people on there that know their stuff.

If you want your account activated, just reply to the email that you received when you signed up, that's what I had to do.

Stupid people, someone just told me that his USA ML has a brighter tone than my KV2.....

I was supposed to get #6 of the limited Michael Schenker black and white flying V. The dealer "boned" the deal and sent my ax to some fella out West. After seeing the attention to detail or lack of, I'm glad I saved my money.

          What dealer was it?

Just a word -- before you start casting stones about how stupid the people on the Dean forum are, keep in mind that there's more than a couple who also post over here.

With that said, yeah. Maple tends to be brighter than mahogany. Interesting. I don't see my ML as a particularly "bright" sounding guitar.

I second that - who was it?

I've used BRG and Steve was great to deal with. I'll probably get my V from him when I'm ready to order it.

I'm actually quite a post whore on the Dean forum

But I will never tell you my name, as it's ridiculous, I changed it to something stupid, then the manager stopped the name changes.

Also, Chris, I have heard nothing but great things about BRG and Funky Munky. But Eddie at Carlino is the "rip off" dealer.

                    Thanks Dave: that worked.

Edit: I take that back, they activated my a/c before I managed to send them an e-mail asking for it.

"Eddie Carlino" - very trustworthy name. I've never dealt with him though, so I can't really comment. I hate to slag someone without experience with them.

I'll buy my guitars from "Steve in Iowa", thanks... Seems Funky has a pretty good rep as well. They sure sell a lot on eBay!!

I had the same problem. It's all good now. They do sling a fair amount of shit over there, but if you ask a real question, you'll usually get a few good answers. All in all, I like it. Each board has it's own personality - Dean is about halfway between here and (gulp...) ESP.

ESP board: where's the :shiver: smiley when you need it?

I don't expect to spend much time on the Dean forum. I really just have the one question to ask and I can always whip out the pickups and check the size of the cavity for myself if no one answers.

Speaking of forums, I do like reading sevenstring.org. They make childish fun of each other, but there's no sense of malice in it. That and I'm hooked on their picstories . A fair few people have tasty Jackson CS 7s over there that I've not seen here. When I posted my KE7 and said it had first appeared on the JCF, someone did tell me to send their "love" to everyone here. I have a funny feeling they didn't *really* mean love...

You can generally tell how useful someone is going to be on that forum by their start date...

You have 3303 posts over at the Dean forum in ten months? Dude, you really need to get a job that keeps you more occupied. Speaking of which, I better return to mine.

Edit half an hour later: make that 3306 now!

I joined recently - I'd like to think I've contributed a couple "quotes of interest/substance"...
