  • BC Rich experts I need you help please

I found a BC Rich eagle today. This I am assuming is an import but I have never seen one quite like this. They wouldnt let me snap a picture but I will describe it.

It said NJ on it thus I think its imported. It has the classic style headstock with the script vintage RICH logo going down vertically with the large R at the top of the head stock. The bottom of th head stock has a slightly italicized NJ Series.. There is a stamped number on the back of the headstock, no where on this axe does it say tm (trademark) or licensed etc....Just b.c Rich and nj series.. It is not the current NJ or Classic series

It is a neck through dark black cherry stain, stop bridge, 2 hums. In decent shape but a few dings.

They are holding this for me till monday but I need to know what it is and what it is worth.. Plays well but I dont want to over pay for something that I am not sure I will keep long term.

    Please help!!!!!

NJ stands for Nagoya, Japan, and that's where they were originally all made. Still true 100% of the time? Dunno. I have never seen the "R" script letter on a BC Rich import, anyone else know any different? The "R" means USA to me. What I have seen are "R" script letter decals for sale up on Feebay.

Sounds like a great guitar. the NJ series were only made in Japan for a few years. Most of them were made in the Cort factory in Korea.

The new calibre series have the "R" on the headstock.

            They're hand "crafted" in Europe.

The Nj's back up to the the mid late 80's were actually half decent as far as I can recall once the Platinum series came around the whole lineup started to nosedive as they tried to sell these guitars like cheeseburgers (volume not quality)

ThE R headstock logo was used on NJ series models as well. It is absolutely a Japan made guitar if it says NJ on the Headstock. They are very good guitars and do bring in a fair buck still. What are they asking for it?

I flip some collect others. That way i keep myself in new gear and never have to hear it from the wife. No one stops anyone else from buying the axes I do. And I dont gouge or part things out. If I was selling at a premium I would be like carr and stuck with a ton of guitars. I resell at fair prices not 200% profits.
