I got it new on a liquidation sale. It has been sitting in a warehouse for close to 2 years. (Built in Feb. 2006 and shipped 12/20/06 to the US from Ibanez). The board was dry as a bone and the strings were like rubber (it would not tune up at all) The setup out of the box was excellent. So, with some Fret Doctor on the board and some new strings, she's playing just flat awesome. This is my first Ibanez and I am very impressed to say the least (Never thought I'd say it) The tone is excellent. The DiMarzio Breed pickups are perfect for this basswood guitar and is best described by the DiMarzio website.
"Steve wanted one of his instruments to have a fat, classic humbucker sound to contrast with the hotter, screaming Evolution®-equipped guitars. These are the pickups we developed for him. The neck pickup is a bit louder and fatter-sounding than the PAF Pro® pickups that Steve used on his earliest Jems. The bridge pickup is not as hot as the Evolution®, but it's got a warm and punchy mid-range coupled with a fat low end that rolls off before it can get muddy. Harmonics are easy to get, and the 4-conductor wiring coil enables cool "notch tone" coil-splitting."
The neck radius is huge despite the nut width of 1-11/16" (43mm). I don't know if these Prestige necks are compound radius or what? Down below the 12th fret is like a football field. Lot's of room for tapping and bending.
Well, she will get more chrome. The knobs are on the way and I'll probably pop on some bobbin toppers as well. Hmm, maybe an all chrome neck is in her future?:ROTF:

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. There is a clear protective film over the top of the mirror on the body. And of course the pickguard is thick clear with the mirror on the backside. I think with Meguires "plastic polish" I'll be able to keep the scratches to a minimum!
