  • Carvin opinions? Amps/Guitars

Any recent experiences good or bad?
What's the quality and playability of their stuff?
There's some stuff I'm eyeballing, and have never had any first hand experience with them.
I like ebony, and some of their axes look nice (other models, well, just not for me).
Let's hear the good, the bad, and the ugly...

As a general guide line, never buy a NEW Carvin. Reason being that
they have terrible resale. Why? I dont know..they are great guitars
extremely well made. But the truth is they do...so buy a mint used
one for 1/2 off of Carvin's website prices. Then you will REALLY be
happy with your purchase, cause Carvins are worth twice what the
      new cost is imo!

Carvin guitars are very nice but do buy a nice used one and save some money.A used Carvin goes at less than half of a new one.
Their amps kick ass IMO I have an 88 X100B and it sounds great.Nice cleans. Drive channel is OK but nothing to write home about.I use a fulltone OCD stomp box and I get all the OD I can stand.
        Really? well screw Mark Twain.

I bought a bolt plus about a year and a half ago. Along with the trusty SL-1, it is my main player, and I am very happy with it. I guess since Carvin ships their guitars almost straight off the assembly line they sometimes feel a little "stiff" when you first get them. After a few months, it really seemed to settle in.

The resale is bad, but just never plan on reselling any of your guitars. Life will be more fun that way.

Think about it... as a general guideline... there aren't too many guitars or amps you could buy new and not get burned on when you go to sell them. Carvin is pretty normal in regards to resale. Actually.. their guitars hold their value pretty well. So do many of their amps.

BTW.. everything Carvin sells is extremely well made.
