The 2007 R9's are supposed to be some of the best sounding and looking reissues in years. They are not weight relieved, as mentioned previously. Matt from this board carries them. You might also want to call Saul out at Centre City. He always has good stuff and gets rave reviews on the LPF.

You might also keep an eye on the LPF classifieds. Some good stuff goes through there.

    My ice tea 97 RO:

That crap picture absolutely does not do justice to how beautiful the guitar is. Lemonburst is awesome also. I am pondering letting this start to fade naturally to it.

Even if they had, they don't have a huge selection, and hardly ever get used LPs. I've played so many that I didn't like for some reason. They weren't all necessarily bad, but if I pay for an LP, I want it to be perfect. In the end, just to appease my GAS, I bought an Aria Pro II LP, one of the older (1980) "lawsuit" models. Now it's going to be even tougher to find a Gibby, because it has to measure up to this one.

By the way, is this "iced tea", or a very light tobacco burst?

I would think that is closest to a darkburst.

That's the short scale one iirc? Have you compared it to the 250?
Fwopping, you know you want to!

Just be careful picking the right one - I bought this '59 VOS and it SUCKED. Would not stay in tune.....I only kept it a month.

Spiral - go for it man! I just got a Standard Faded w/50s neck and I LOVE it! The rounded neck and short scale works great for my hands (I'm very picky about necks) but the tone........holy crap! Now I understand.

But like Zeegs said, you have to try a lot of them. I've played a bunch of Gibsons in stores over the last year and some are just ok but some have "it". Luckily for me (I got it off ebay), this one does. Good luck in your R9 search and definitely register with the LPF for lots of good info.

Edit - I was too slow -lol. Strat God's post is a perfect example. A '59 VOS (which is a very expensive guitar and should be perfect) that sucks, doesn't even stay in tune. I used to think that you had to try a lot of Strats to find the right one but now I believe the desparity (sp?) between good and bad LPs is even greater than Strats. But when you find the one...........

Sorry for going slightly off-topic (but it's about LPs), Strat God, did you end up keeping your ZW LP?

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only guitarist on earth that hasn't fallen in love with a Les Paul. I can honestly say that I've never played one that felt like I "had to have it".

I really want to like LPs. Some are drop-dead gorgeous, they're great tone-wise, and it's obviously a classic design. But most of the ones I've had the opportunity to play felt like utter crap to me. And the best ones that I've played felt only "so-so", at best.

...BTW, I don't so much mean that as a criticism of Gibby's QC. Although that's certainly an issue, too, what I mean more is that I've never played an LP that played or "felt" good to me. Plus, I can't stand the "yester-tech" hardware on them. I wish I felt otherwise.

                  +1
Played plenty of them, customs, standards, studios...new and vintage.
I've played Explorers that I've liked better. I get the same way about super high priced strats. I've played Squires that I liked better than some of those vintage museum pieces. Superstrats have given me the most satisfaction for sound, playability, and quality. Specifically C/J's.

Too much Hype. The '59 reissue is nice, a friend of mine has the Dark Burst and it is a nice guitar, Worth $6,000.00 though? not sure about that part but I guess if you are after a Les Paul you should get the best that you can afford! I have a Faded Cherry Burst that I am willing to part with, if you are interested, just let me know.

I would never buy a new Gibson. Not because they are not decent guitars, well, some of them have to be, right? I'm not a fan of the people running Gibson now and I talk with my wallet....

Here's mine. The only one I've had that didn't get traded or sold for something else. 1980 Heritage 80 Standard. Gibsons first attempt at a 59 reissue. SOLID wood, can't beat that. Shaw Pickups, which sound friggin' killer. Thin binding. Small headstock. Not a perfect example of the '59's but pretty damn good for Gibsons first attempt. Remember the picture on the first Vandenberg record? Adrian is holding a H-80...

                      I'm angry because you're stupid

Shibs that the 2nd time in 2 days you have let it "slip" that you have gear for sale. You know better by now, you were told last time as well. The worst part is that it's not even the same item you trying to sell this time. Your bio says you own a music store, if that's the case and you want to sell gear here, become a sponsor. Stop trying to be slick about it.

Nope. I played a friend's SC245 and was sold immediately. I sold my solid rosewood neck McCarty within a week or so of playing his SC245 and I scored a killer SC245 on The Gear Page a couple weeks ago.
