Yes, his Charvel, Ibanez and original Carvin were all one-hum models. You can still order the Carvin with one humbucker. Actually, you can order any Carvin with just one humbucker.

That's wild - I wouldn't expect a weird Jazzy guy to play without a neck pickup. A lot of jazz guitars don't have a bridge pickup
