E-series Korean Squire IIs?

An old guy at work brought in a Korean Squire II yesterday for me to look at and set up. All it needed was the neck pickup lowered since the high E string was hitting the poles at the 15th+ frets.

Other than that, it felt like a solid guitar. Played well enough. I don't recall the whole serial, but I did notice it started with an E.

Was there ever a "good" run of these?

Hmm. Seems I left out a few things

It was a Gilmour-Red Strat, S-S-S, 6-screw v-trem, 21 frets, maple/maple, trussrod nut at the head, 4-bolt neck, standard Strathead (not the big 70's style), skinny frets.

I have two of those late eighties Korean made Squier Strats including a red one.


The red one has a replacement bridge and tremolo. The black one has a replacement neck (which explains the 22 fret neck)

They outdo my Fender USA strat, much better guitars than any current squier I've played.

I believe the korean made ones are fett's favorite. He should be able to shed some light on those.

Just don't get one made in India.
