One thing I wonder though. I wonder why he drilled the pickguard holes before painting? From my experience it's easier to drill them after painting, so as to not worry about water getting in the holes during wet sanding. Lee must have a secret I don't no about!

Pre drilling the holes is a great way to prevent paint chipping when you do final assembly.
And you should NEVER wet sand a guitar. It should always be done dry or with a light mineral oil.
Just change your paper often and blow the dust of the body between paper changes.
