Someone talk me out of buying the Mustaine VMNT Gears of War Dean

I don't like the look of the silver VMNT's... too cold and sterile looking. In my mind the black ones doesn't look right with those inlays either.

However the Gears of War one looks pretty good and are available now.

Even the boss (wife) said she's cool with it.


Anyone get their hands on a VMNT yet? I'm wondering what the "mustaine neck profile" is and if it corresponds to any Jackson neck profiles (speed neck maybe?).

Well, the song it's based on fizzles out unsatisfyingly if thats any help? Just as you're hoping for a shredtastic solo followed by a return to a thunderous chorus, Dave winds the song down and it all just sneaks off quietly like a thief in the night. A thief that stole a guitar solo or three.

You know that's an excellent point, despite the sarcasm. People want to sound like, for example, Kerry King. So they buy his latest sig guitar and amp model. The thing is, they want to sound like KK did when he recorded "Reign In Blood" or "South Of Heaven". The best thing to do would be to buy the same - cheaper - stuff he used on those albums, not the shit he uses now.

Same for this Mustaine sig guitar, or really ANY sig guitar/amp by any artist whos best days are behind them.

But people don't seem to realise that, and they run out and buy whatever their hero puts his name to. If I want to sound like Angus Young I certainly wouldn't buy his sig guitar - it has a fucking tremelo and how many times have you ever seen him use one of those?!

Save your money - just buy the bog standard stuff they actually USED on the classic albums, not the shit they were paid to use.

Ugh, another of Deans cheapo looking graphics that look like a photograph stuck to the front of the guitar. I'd stick with black silver or trans-black.

I think Dave Mustaine is the man.
I'd be afraid that graphic would have the same craptastic print press quality I've seen on other Deans.
