Just saw on the Rickenbacker company site that Grover Jackson is now in charge of automation at their factory,,,

didn't the automation occur after he sold the JCMI to ACMI (or whatever that co name was)?

or am I just wrong about that?

plus, let's face it, he was never really "back" at JCMI to begin with, they just used him as a cameo for those stupid exhorbitant reissues that now sit around gathering dust.

AMIC I believe you mean. And I would imagine it had started before hand when the operation got big around 1990

Grover sold to IMC, which was Donny whatsisface's partnership with Akai.

IMC was absorbed into AMIC - Akai Musical Instruments Corp.

Anyway, as far as I know, Grover set up the Japanese factory to do the Model models. That may have included the automation, I'm not sure.

thanks for the correction on the acronym there. well maybe he does know something about automation if they kept him on to set up the Japan Models production line.

Lord knows those are some kickass guitars, maybe the best bang for the buck guitars ever produced...

It's funny. At the time they were readily available, I considered them crap. Of course at that time I had a USA Soloist. Now, I'm always on the look out for one of those Professionals at a good price.
