  • New Fender Malmsteen

My wife let me pull the pin on a Malmsteen, so I called and ordered one a few weeks ago. Amazingly, Fender had in stock what I wanted (in terms of color and fingerboard wood). After quick shipping and a stop for a set-up, here's what I unpacked this morning:

The scallops are deeper on the '07's:

I have another scalloped Fender, a MIJ Blackmore from 1997. Surprisingly, the Yngwie is almost exactly the same weight despite the Blackmore being basswood and only having 2 pickups:

And lastly, a shot with another shred-style Fender, a black HM Strat that didn't photograph well:

Now I'm just waiting for an Analogman OD-250 to complete the picture.

Awesome! I think you have the three most metal strats ever made. Those 70's headstocks rule.

Thanks. And I agree on the larger headstocks. A friend of mine thinks I'm nuts but I just love how those look on a strat.

Perfect color choice. My guitar is very much inspired by the Malmsteen model - it rocks!

I'm glad you like the HM. I have a soft spot for them. Funnily enough, it's probably the least expensive instrument I've bought since I was in high school.

I'd love to find a maple board HM, especially a 2-HB model. (But I might have to get it scalloped. )

sweet. best guitars (YJM USA) ever made by Fender IMO. The necks are unreal.

I LOVE IT!! Of course I am biased. The 70's headstock is the ONLY strat headstock I like!

                          06 Trower Strat

I would get a Yngwie, but I don't like scallops!

red/maple is my fave strat combo (first guitar) and yngwie'd is just cool.

Love to have a go of one of those!
