The back story:
Went to the store where I bough tmy first electric and took my first lessons. Mar-Schell's Music on Henderson Hwy. He moved 2 units down the street into a much larger space and the store looks great. He has a stage in one corner and has open jams every Saturday, so I think I'll be a regular there now. Not just becasuse of all the brand new Laney stacks you get to play through either.
He came up and actually remembered me, even though it has been almost 25 years!
He is a B C Rich dealer and had some nice axes up on the walls. I only had about $300 to spend and was actually looking for a cheap acoustic, but there was a nice looking Metal Master Warlock on the wall and so I took it down to play it. It was ok, but the fret end hung over a tad and so that was enough to turn me off. Nice tone though, even with the stock pup. Especially the neck pup. Good sustain too.
There was another that caught my eye and once I took it down I was sold. He let me have the guitar, case and a new pack of string for $300! I just snapped a quick pic, and I am about to change the strings and give her a set up. I am so far quite surprised that this is Chinese - it doesn't seems to have any construction issues at all, but we shall see. Anyways, for that price I am happy so what the hell, eh?
