Haha. Yep, I wish I could find a guitar like that for $100. That's a sweet one for sure...

Is there any precident for a PCII to come with a reverse headstock? Thanks for posting over there. I thought about it but then I'd be that newbie dude who everyone thinks is looking to sell...

OK, I'm now thinking the pickup is not aftermarket. Looking at Vass's Kramer in the other thread, his pickup ring is just like mine. 3 holes, the Schaller only using the 2 outside ones. Must be something they did...

It is pretty cool and it plays very well. Frets could use a bit of a level but for now, it's decent. Cool to see that it's a pretty rare finish for a Kramer. I thought everyone and their mother was doing that finish in the 80's...

Well I got a very nice email from Dave from vintagekramer.com. He says that cavity cover is consistant with late 80's Kramers. He has a few he bought at a fire sale when they went under thats the exact shape. So it seems like the cavity is legit...

He thinks it might be a Focus. The only thing he said was the imput jack is the american one. He said they stopped using the 2in1 Schaller pickups in 84 or something. Which is a bit strange...

But they did just slap together guitars at the end of the run. The serial dates to 1989ish, has he put it. So we are in that time frame. So I'm thinking it might just be that. A thrown together guitar before bankruptcy...

Also the firecrackle finish must be quite rare. He said he's never seen a Kramer with that type graffic. So a bit of an oddity I have here...

Yes, by 1986 when they went to the pointy headstock, all the "American" and Japanese Focus necks are like that. It's the same neck either way, both made by ESP in Japan. I think you have an American series body with a Focus series neck. Great deal !

                    xbolt,
The body looks exactly the same. Non recessed Floyd as well. And the same cavity cover. Looks just like it. Well, except for the neck...

the neck is probably a focus neck, which is as good as a US neck of the same time, because they produced them in the same factories with the same machines, they just didnt put tool holders & american logos on the Focus necks.

I have one of those aswell

OK, well mine has the tool holder. Can you tell if it looks like it's in the stock place or was it added afterwards? Don't have the "american" logo though. But yeah, both from the same place. But I dig the reverse headstock on this one...

I've had Focus necks with the tool holders two-sided fuzzy taped on.

Strange as I thought the only non-fine tunered OFR's were on Korean Strikers. Never saw a Focus with one of those trems. Other than a fulcrum or Rockinger / Wilkerson type or OFR.
