  • New guitar!

First thing to go will be the bridge pickup, replaced by a bucker with autosplit... OR I could keep it that way and try a series bridge + middle pickup on the bridge position?

Suggest any mods she won't stay this way too long hehehe

The pictures don't do the finish justice, because I'm not the greatest photograph...When I got her the neck was so dirty all the grain was covered and it was well smooth, I cleaned it up a bit too well hehe...The neck also had about 4 times the healthy relief, so I brought her down, she responded pretty damn well to it which surprised me! Sounds beautiful, sustains longer than my Kramer Stagemaster (Neck through). She's a 4 pieces body but it's not that easy to tell, and the finish is beautiful. I screwed the bridge all the way down and used 4 springs but for some reason it's still got some travel upwards, just a tiny bit.

She keeps in tune very well without me having to do anything :|Though I don't use the trem and never will.

My first American, since it seems to matter here I guess I gave up on my boycott hehe.

    That's a beauty!
Everyone should own at least one strat.
I wouldn't mod it extensively, or you'll probably end up looking for another strat.
Lace sensor pickups, or the new Bill Lawrence designed for fender noiseless pickups would be sweet... or even single coil-sized hot rails pickups in the bridge and neck.
    Now your talkin!
    Congrats!

Nice, have you considered putting a set of Bare Knuckle pickups in her?
Fwopping, you know you want to!

Nope. WAY too expensive and I'm a Duncan fan. I'll wire her with a three way switch and a toggle for series parrallel. I'll have all the combinations I use (i.e positons 1, 2 and 4) + series middle + bridge and middle + neck.

I agree with Spike. I'd stick with the single coiled sized pickups and not go too crazy. For humbuckers, another to consider is the SD Lil '59 or any of the DiMarzio single coiled sized hums. Nice grab!

I just noticed, but it looks like the pickguard plastic protector is still on the guitar?

First thing I noticed and I'm a bit surprised. Not that most people would notice but eyes always catch the seams of a body. It's a USA strat?

Yep a highway 1. From the front you can really see only about 2 pieces. From the rear though all 4 are visible. And yes the plastic is still on the guitar. I'm waiting for her first complete overhaul/rewiring when I get back to Edinburgh to take it off.

I'm not a big fan of Strats, but congrats to you!

I'm not sure how they are routing these, they don't do the swimming pool route anymore. It may be only routed out for single coils. You might want to pull the pickguard and find out...

It's a pretty nice looking Strat...
                  I'm angry because you're stupid

Not too often you see trans blue Fenders. Looks great.

How do you like the Pocket Pod, by the way? I've been mulling over picking one up.

Eh...It's not really a headphone amp in the plug and play sense. It's complex and has this over digitalness to it, worse than the POD2.0 I found, or maybe it's been too long. It's well fun though and well priced.

Try an rsguitarworks pot upgrade kit with the pickups that are in there and wire it by their diagram and you will have tone control on the bridge pickup. The kits are outstanding and easy to install.
I had RS replace the first 4 frets on my 87 squier and install a complete modern strat kit and it sounds killer, smooth and very responsive even with the stock pickups.
                          Really? well screw Mark Twain.

Yeah I could easily do that right now but I'm not interested. The guy will have a master tone and volume and a toggle switch for series/parrallel. It'll have all 3 positions I use most, each in parrallel and series I don't think I'll go humbucker on this guitar.
