I don't see Fender messing much with Hamer or Ovation, for good reason: It gives them strong presence in the Gibson-style and Super high end acoustic market, same with Genz Benz amps giving them strength in that market.
Suhr, Godin, GMW, Anderson, Soldano, Mesa Boogie, G&L, etc.
I don't know why anyone is surprised by big corporations merging. You have to stop thinking of them as companies for musicians. That simply is not their motivation anymore at a very fundamental level. The people running these companies could care less if they are selling water coolers or tube amps. It is purely a business - nothing more. At all.
If you want instruments built by companies who from the top down are focused on musicians you have to look elsewhere.
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.
I knew this was coming for a little while with Hamer. Hamers are unique with all the hand work. They haven`t been my cup of tea for years, but I have owned many/many Hamers in the past and yes a few Chap Customs also with the set neck, ebony and boomers. Hamer is a very closed minded shop at present and any change you want on a model, that they will actually do will cost you big $$$$$$$$. So you see, they aren`t my cup of tea anymore, but I do feel for them and thier small hands on shop. Hamer didn`t even want to make Shreddy guitars in the 80`s/90`s, but they did because it sold well, Jol hates Floyds and most any shred type guitar. Well, we`ll see what happens form here with them.
