  • 70s Jap neck thru

I got a Jap (I assume it is) project guitar today.
Can't post pics but I'll decribe it and maybe some can post pics of what they have that might be close.
Maple neck thru, rosewood stringers, ash body wings.2 hum and stop tail with TOM bridge.
The body is a double cut like a Yamaha Weddington but more rounded(no body binding)the neck is triple bound with pearl block fret markers.
Headstock is more like an older B.C.Rich but symetrical. The top of the headstock is arched with two points on either sides of the arch in the center.
Its a very well made guitar but the finish has been sanded. It looks like it was clear originally.Post pics of what you might think it is.
    Really? well screw Mark Twain.

Vantage or Aria. Sounds like a Matsumoku factory build nevertheless.
How are the pots and switches laid out? What does the rear cavity for the controls look like?

L.P. layout with a 3-way toggle a little forward of the controls.
headstock shape is trowing me off more like a B.C. Rich. Not like any Aria or Vantage I've seen.
It has a neck volute at the base of the headstock.

Thats the headstock (GO1000) and general body shape but my input jack is on the side not the top and the 3-way with the controls.
Not a Vantage,Cort,Yamaha, maybe a Greco headstock is the closest yet.

Ibanez had a headstock like that too. So the controls were like an SG?

                        Worth a shot. Hell, I don't know.
                        Good find, though!

I was thinking of the Ibanez performer series.. but those controls are laid like an LP. They may have had others with that headstock shape tho.

The arch is taller and the headstock is not as wide as the Ibanez in the pics.

Sounds like an old Ibanez Musician. It had a headstock similar to what you've described. Was a double cut bidy, neck through, And had a control layout like an SG.
If it is. Nice guitars. And have good tone. I've seen some old Ibanez Musicians with original Dimarzios. Cool guitars.
