Well, Slayer, Megadeth and Metallica were around at that time too. Where is their Green Spandex? Just because they were around in the 80's doesn't mean you have to look like Poison...

That may have some truth to it but there are plenty of kick ass glam guitarists whos styles' and skills are definetaly metal worthy....granted the word glam is in odd word to use.
