Its just a term and some could be considered rock but players like lynch or even like nugent i think possess a metal side which deserves the term.

Nuge is not metal. Nothing he has ever done has been metal. Either solo or Damn Yankees. Both rock...

Lynch is more hard rock. But I still wouldn't call Dokken metal. Don Dokken is very un-metal...

Course these are all just opinions and mine don't ammout to shit. I just like to debate the issue with willing participants...

See, I refuse to use terms like EMO or NU or Mathmetal or any of that shit. It's either Rock or Metal. That's how I base everything. Rock or Metal...

But then there are bands like Limp Bizkit that I can't classify as either so I just call them crap...

i tend to think of rock as being more blues based. metal has more modal sounds.

u say lynch is rock, but u can't seriously be keeping a straight face saying that when u listen to tracks like tooth and nail, kiss of death, mr scary, or lighnting strikes again. cetrtianly lynch mob was hard rock more than metal, but then lynch changes and develops his style continuously, lynch/pilson was mor elike melodic metal. interestingly on a recent tuition vod on guitarplayer he was talking country licks as well. clearly a very diverse player.

don dokken is maybe too poetic for heavy metal, certainly melodic metal tho. he also has his moments on the heavier dokken songs.

either way classic dokken pwned a lot of other bands, so who gives a shit as long as its awesome?

glam metal was called heavy metal back in the day anyway. glam and hair are modern terms, but make that style instantly recocgnisable when u see it. there i fitted glam and metal in the same sentence twice

Yes, I can keep a straight face and call Lynch a rock guitarist even when I listen to Tooth and Nail. No problem at all with that. It's a rock song. Angel Of Death is a metal song. Show me something in the Dokken catalogue that is in that vein...

It's like my buddy trying to tell me Kickstart My Heart was a "thrash" song because of the intro riff... Right...

Too poetic for metal? Try to pathetic...

Maybe you can answer this question. What the fuck does "pwned" mean anyway?

no angel of death is a thrash song, and partly respnosible for the development of death metal as a genre. the two are not in the same ballpark. u can't compare claais cmetal wiuth extreme metal and say ur argument is valid

            and lol at ur buddy.

pwned = owned sorry common net mispelling.

edit: man, check out the spelling of classic

Yeah i guess you have to think of the times because metal nowadays is rather different then metal in the early days. Led and Sabbath were considered some of the founders of metal even though to current terms they don't sound very metal. Also i have to say kickstart my heart is so not thrash

Yep, it's a Steeler for sure and congrats Paul, when you get tired of it, (and you will ) I'll be happy to take it off your hands -

pwned=owned? I see pwned a lot on the net. Must be a common mispelling...

I don't do "thrash". I do metal. Slayer is metal so Angel of Death is metal. I don't care if you put thrash or nu or math before it, it's still metal. It's all metal...

Unless we are talking about Dokken. That's rock. I think I remember Don even saying that in an article back in the day. He had a problem with the term metal too...

But what I'm not telling you guys is that I'm too old to keep up with the new terms. My old mind can only comprehend rock and metal. Anything more than that and I just sit there and drool...

Led Zep was rock. Sabbath was metal...

The Immigrant Song is kinda metal. But that doesn't count. We have to look at the body of work as a whole...

Led helped start it all and since they were pioneers its goin to sound really different. Early metal bands looked to them for inspiration for paving the way. Both bands were different and radical for their time and thats what metal became. Either way nice Fender and who cares if it has the F-hole in it . Aslong as it sounds and plays great....and u will have a pretty unique guitar cuz i have to say ive never ran into one.
