Basically, does Gibson denote B stock in there serials? I thought they put a B at the beginning or end, but that may just be for Epiphone. Before you ask why, I don't want to say yet, but I'll probably be able to in a few days. Thanks.
B stock? You mean like Seconds? I remember them stamping a number 2 on the back of the headstock. But there were not many Gibson 2nds. I thought Harry put an end to that too...
Bengal is right. I remember seeing Gibsons with a 2 stamped above or below the serial number, denoting it a 2nd. Usually, it was for a finish blem.

Hmm, alright. Its going to make what I need to do a bit tougher, but thanks all. Basically I hit a minor, but possibly illegal, snag and need to "talk" to the company over it.
I had a dumster diver special L.P. junior.Got the headstock repaired and it was good as new.
I had a 74 SG that had 2 stamped on the back of the headstock it kicked ass.
Well, I need to check something else. I emailed Gibson about the issue, which was finding LOCTITE on the lower strap button once I took it off to put ini strap locks. Gibson says its totally normal, and that all Gibson USA Guitars have this blue anchor in them to keep them on the conveyor system in the factory through the finishing process and final assembly. Can anyone confirm this?
Is this something you found on your V? I've never seen a "blue anchor" in any of my Gibsons and I put Schaller Strap Locks on all my guitars. What is this "blue anchor"? Do you have a pic of it?

I can get pictures once by camera batteries charge up. Basically, when I went to remove it, it felt very tight, but I figured a drill had been used to install it. When I got it out, there was a small mound of blue, hard, goop on the screw hard, that seemed to be stuck to the finish, but none of the screw.
Well we are talking a Faded V and not a 5K R8. I do know they cut corners on some of the less expensive lines they have. I wouldn't put something like that past them at all...
Look at the les paul forum.
Those blue anchors became common last year sometime.
I think it was when they started hogging out the standard Lp's and just made it a line change.
Build a man a fire and he's warm for a day, set a man on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life.
Waiting for my account to be approved on LP Forum so I can search for it... I'm not sure I buy that though, as if it was a plastic anchor, would it have not come apart when I turned the screw, leaving a few tiny bits of plastic around. this came out pretty cleanly for the most part, and won't budge at all.
EDIT: For the record, mine was completed almost midway through the year on June 6th, 2007.
