Does any one know what the difference is between the import models (besides the graphic)?

Also, has anyone played one? I'm itching for a fixed bridge V, and this is available in quantity for cheap.

I was looking at the neck of one on line, and it looked like the ebony was striped, and the inlays looked crooked.

what's up with that? Were the heck are these things made anyway,,,Japan?

There are two imports. The VMNTX is a bolt-on neck with dot inlays, made in black and silver). Not sure if that's made in China or Korea.

The VMNT1 (set neck) is made in Korea (black, metallic silver, Angel of Death, and Gears of War). I just got a silver one, and it plays pretty nicely. The board is indeed striped ebony and not dyed black like a lot of manufacturers seem to do.
My inlays don't really look crooked, but the one at the third fret looks like it is moved over to the right a little bit more than the others. Also, the inlay at the 21st fret seems like somebody fucked up and cut it a little too short and on an angle, so they filled the rest in with black epoxy and it makes it look like it's starting to disappear into black instead of being full pearl. It's only cosmetic so it doesn't really bother me, but they could have paid a little bit more attention to the detail.
I did have a problem with the switch needing to be replaced, as well as the volume pot for the bridge pickup, but Dean's customer service was really great and reimbursed me for it.
As far as playability, it's a really nice, slim D profile neck that Dave Mustaine prefers (speed neck profile found on the KV1 and KV2) with medium jumbo frets.

Here's the thread I posted on it like two weeks ago.

VMNT-X is made in China, I got a silver one on my last trip to the US (thats all the GC had in stock, dude just took it out of the box).

The silver sparkle finish is amazing, especially for the price. Pickups sound reasonable too but definitely not above swapping out. Luckily no build or QC issues on mine either.

The mustaine "C" neck profile on it is actually pretty comfortable.

I'm watching FleaBay for a used VMNT1 or GOW. They don't seem to be doing too well in resale I think I saw a black one end this week at the $700 opening with no bids.

Really? That's interesting. I thought they kept Dave's profile on all the necks. Makes sense, though, since they don't use his pickups on that one either.

                  hmmmm

might keep my eye open for a VMNT 1

The ESP DV8 was awesome,,but way too expensive!!!!!
                  But a nice big V

I'd really love to have a JAckson double rhoads, in Silver with a string through body,,and a nice white bone nut.

                  that would be the ultimate..

The KV2 profile is VERY different to the ESP LTD DV-8R... The KV2 profile is much better.

Yes but the KV1 is the Dave Mustaine sig.

Isn't the KV1 profile the same as the KV2???? I thought they both had the "speed neck"...

                          No idea. I've never played a KV2.

Didn't realize the ESP had a different profile. I believe the KV1, KV2, Y2KV and the Dean all share Dave's "speed neck" profile.
