  • Birdseye or Flame?

Should I go for the Musikraft birdseye or flame maple neck for this body?

I'd go for flame, I never really liked birdseye, but flame would go nice with the body.

birdseye all the way. just make sure you select best option to assure you get enough of it in there flame'd maple necks are ok but just not as obvious as a premium grade birdseye neck imho. Also get one piece construction. If you not getting a different board dunno why you'd wanna glue a fretboard on any neck unless it was ebony or rosewood.

I think highly flamed necks are just as cool as birdseye, though.

How about a quartersawn maple neck with a flame maple fretboard (a la PC1)?

That's what I got from Musikraft, and I am very happy with it.

Flame for me birdseye tends to be un-stable if there is a lot of birdseye.
That body needs a flame neck IMO.

You should put a black pickguard on it. That'll make that awsome quilt stand out so much more.

i'd highly suggest putting carbon fiber rods in the neck if you decide to get a highly figured neck (especially if there's not going to be a hard finish on it). either way, at least make sure that you're getting quartersawn maple.
