Pretty cool, but I wouldn't want to be in a position to have to sell one of those. I doubt anyone will remember that build in 10 years, so how is it supposed to appreciate? The price is too high and they made too few. My guess is they missed the "sweet spot".

maybe your right but history has shown metallica sig models that are limited do appreciate,
the jh1 was around 1800 new and they made 100 of them and now they sell for double that.
ive owned 2 jh2 models and i had friends that had them also and new they were 2k and 200 made and i sold mine for 5k last year and i know of 4 more that sold for over 5k and one as high as 5600.
the jh3 was 2k new and 100 made and now sell for 5k to 6500 depending on the condition, i know of 3 that sold for those prices last year.

everybody knows kh and theres lots of metallica fans that will pay top dollar for these guitars. the average guy doesnt know much about them but theres still enough guys that do and that keeps the value up, and theres lots of overseas buyers that keep buying this stuff. i paid 6500 and im keeping mine but 40 guitars isnt a lot and most dealers got 10k for them so i think im pretty safe. maybe i will be wrong and these guitars will be worth 3k and the value drop in 10 yrs but i dont care.

I've said that a few too many times, and missed the boat on too much gear that went crazy over time. Reason has no rhyme. All those 300 dollar American strats I passed up in the seventies and eighties...ug. And LP's were sinking for a time, also.

It's just like anything else,,there are steep decreasing returns to investment. Like the difference between a JAckson USA, and a Custom shop jackson, like $60 pair of jeans, and a $300 pair of jeans..

i bought it almost a year ago for 6500 new, the 10k is the retail but not everybody will pay that, when i got mine i knew of 4 or 5 other esp board members that paid the same as i did, theres 41 guitars total, 1 for kirk, 20 for the usa market and 20 for overseas market, kirk liked his so much he also got #13 from the usa markets allocation. theres only a few left floating around right now that havent been sold, i saw a few last year sell for 10k on ebay, and i know of somebody who just sold one for around 7500 i believe, and dcgl got 10k for theirs before it ever got to the store.

honestly i dont think its worth 10k and i still have a hardtime justifying the 6500 i spent but i do like the guitar and im sure someday it will go up in value. ive had a few chances to sell mine for a profit but i wanted to keep it instead.

                i also have a currently kh2 ntb and kh3,
and i owned 2 of the kh2 relics and a kh2 bolt on and kh4.
ive owned about 12 custom shop esp guitars over the years and all of them were great but im being 100% honest when i say the kh20 sounds better than any of them, the build quality is fantastic on it and it resonates really well and has a nice clear tone to it.

since somebody posted the links to the kh20 and kh2 and said all its gets for 7k is a fingerboard your missing the point, this guitar is a gonna be collectable and the kh2 wont, the kh20 has a hand signed cert and is part of only 41 guitars.
esp also had their most skilled craftsman build these guitars, the inlays are only gonna be on this guitar and the skulls look way cooler than the kh2 skulls, the kh20 inlay is made of mirror and theres no filler to be seen on the inlays, the kh20 also has a beautiful flamed maple top and the ebony fretboard that you cant get on the kh2, and the neck has a gloss finish and the kh2 has a satin finish. the kh20 comes with one of the coolest guitar cases ive ever seen and has a built in tuner.
now the most important part of a guitar is the woods and the kh20 has the best woods that esp had and the feel so much better than the kh2. better wood and better craftsmanship = a better feeling and sounding guitar. the maple top is thicker than most maple tops ive seen and not a veneer like some brands use.

as far as price goes nobody should complain too much when you consider the jackson custom shop prices these days.

                heres a couple pics
its a hard guitar to photograph

Dude, you have the sickest guitar collection ever!

thanks man, i dont know about ever because theres guys on this board that have collections that make mine look small and that blow my stuff away but its a awsome compliment anyway.

So just like Kirk, I expect most of these guitars will remain in the closet. :ROTF::ROTF::ROTF:

ive seen a few pics of kirk playing the kh20 in the studio, its been seen in some mags and ads with it. i honestly didnt think we would ever see him play it, he used it a few times last summer for gigs too.

i actually play all my guitars and i keep them rotated so all of them get played. i also have giged with 10 or 12 of them which isnt bad since i own 20. i love my guitars but i also play them out and i just try and be careful.
