    Thanks "G"!!

I had a 603 once that had the wing inlay at the 12th fret, and it had the bridge that conceals the pivots - or whatever moving parts that bridge used. I don't know if a Floyd would retrofit onto one of those because the area where the pivots normally go is routed deeper on that version. The bridge was complete and worked great on that one so I never checked to see.

I have not played a Japan model, only the Taiwan ones, but the craftsmanship on those is so high it's hard to believe that the Japan models could be that much better. It'd be a pleasant surprise to find that out if it is so, though.

Is it like this one Rich?

That's the one! Looks kinda clunky but it works great - at least the one on my 1212S does so I assume the identical one on the 1220S would too.

you guys have me wanting to go check out that 1203s again now. I was intrigued by it, but 3 singles on a neckthru made me baulk. And then when I saw it was made in Korea, I thought it might've been some cheapo new version and not the cool old Yammies I remember checking out back in the day. If the Taiwanese ones are that good, this could be worth looking at again.

and the more I look at Dave's, the more I want an SE too

Wow, seeing that headstock brought back some memories! My 2nd electric was a red SE350. Yours is sweet!

Thanks Pat, I have one of those as well The body isn't as sharp as the 1212A and I changed the pickup for a Jackson JC90 and also added the strat cup output jackplate as I hated the cord sticking straight out and also apparently wasn't smart enough to use a 90 degree cord ended plug-

These Yamaha SEs, RGXs and RGZs from the 80s and 90s are awesome guitars. The Pacificas from the metal era are nice too, especially the 12xx and 14xx models. They really kind of flew under the radar though - like Jackson, not enough high-profile endorsers.

However, they DID have endorsers like Michael Lee Firkins, Rik Emmett and Blues Saraceno. Guys who weren't going to play a guitar that wasn't good. That clued me in that they were worth a try, so when I saw a used RGX211 at West L.A. Music I took it off the wall and liked it. And of course a 211 is low in the product line, but it was still a lot of guitar for little money. I still have a RGZ211M that I love, maple board and a H-S pickup. It sort of fills my Fusion/Model I/II itch. It is a real beater though! Someone's dog had chewed on the end of the headstock or something! And the nut locks were missing too, but the guitar was $51! Threw an XL500 in the bridge, got some hex screws and used some square closet nuts with some washers as spacers, and for $1.49 I have locknuts that work great! And the single-locking trem even stays in tune pretty well! I have it in Drop C right now and it is pretty cool!

Dave, you should start your own forum - this way with your own forum you and the other guy will have a place to hang out. I even have a suggestion for the forum name: User's Group Liking Yamahas Guitars- www.uglyguitars.com

Truth be told, I'd like an AD6.

There was a guy selling a Mike Stern signature Tele here recently - I almost snagged it. It was a *really* nice guitar - if I didn't have a GMW Tele coming I would have bought it. I think it was part of the Pacifica line.

Cool. The old Yamahas were great. I used to have a black RGZ321P (H/S/H with Floyd, black pickguard) that looked pretty much like an Ibanez RG copy. The pickups sounded really sweet, had that notched wah sound.

Hey Lerx, sorry man, I only have parts for the bridge Dave has on his SE. You may be able to pick up a beat up cheapie on Ebay for a parts donor. Thats pretty much how I got most of my parts.
I'm not afraid to bleed, but I won't do it for you.

Heh. Good one. At least I can say the Fernandes was a Christmas gift. And while the Variax is indeed fugly, at least it warrants a forum of its own
