you guys have me wanting to go check out that 1203s again now. I was intrigued by it, but 3 singles on a neckthru made me baulk. And then when I saw it was made in Korea, I thought it might've been some cheapo new version and not the cool old Yammies I remember checking out back in the day. If the Taiwanese ones are that good, this could be worth looking at again.
and the more I look at Dave's, the more I want an SE tooLast edited by VitaminG; 02-28-2008, 10:53 PM.Hail yesterday

These Yamaha SEs, RGXs and RGZs from the 80s and 90s are awesome guitars. The Pacificas from the metal era are nice too, especially the 12xx and 14xx models. They really kind of flew under the radar though - like Jackson, not enough high-profile endorsers.
However, they DID have endorsers like Michael Lee Firkins, Rik Emmett and Blues Saraceno. Guys who weren't going to play a guitar that wasn't good. That clued me in that they were worth a try, so when I saw a used RGX211 at West L.A. Music I took it off the wall and liked it. And of course a 211 is low in the product line, but it was still a lot of guitar for little money. I still have a RGZ211M that I love, maple board and a H-S pickup. It sort of fills my Fusion/Model I/II itch. It is a real beater though! Someone's dog had chewed on the end of the headstock or something! And the nut locks were missing too, but the guitar was $51! Threw an XL500 in the bridge, got some hex screws and used some square closet nuts with some washers as spacers, and for $1.49 I have locknuts that work great! And the single-locking trem even stays in tune pretty well! I have it in Drop C right now and it is pretty cool!Ron is the MAN!!!!

Dave, you should start your own forum - this way with your own forum you and the other guy will have a place to hang out. I even have a suggestion for the forum name: User's Group Liking Yamahas Guitars- www.uglyguitars.com
Truth be told, I'd like an AD6.I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

There was a guy selling a Mike Stern signature Tele here recently - I almost snagged it. It was a *really* nice guitar - if I didn't have a GMW Tele coming I would have bought it. I think it was part of the Pacifica line.I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

Cool. The old Yamahas were great. I used to have a black RGZ321P (H/S/H with Floyd, black pickguard) that looked pretty much like an Ibanez RG copy. The pickups sounded really sweet, had that notched wah sound.I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.
