Nice. I'm pretty well set for guitars, but I'm jealous of that one.

Nice. I'm a Vandenberg convert after that V-type I got recently - if that's how the new imports play, the old ones must kill!

You might change your mind about the Spyder. I think it's a great trem. Very stable, easy to use, and doesn't suck tone either. What don't you like about it?

Speaking from the experience of my band's other guitarist (who plays a couple of Vandys) the Spyder is great....if you can find parts.

for one the spyder is really stiff i tried removing a spring ..but when i depressed the bar it popped out well not right out but it most definitly shifted......it was enough for me to pull the bar off and not use it again

Spyders work very well IMO.Not much travel but very stable.Make sure the trem studs and anchors are solid and not moving around.

Sounds like it just need setting up properly. What do you mean "it popped out"? The bar? The bar is threaded, so there is no way it should "pop out".

First thing you should do is check to make sure the trem studs are the correct ones. Spyders are not like Floyds. The knife-edge is on the stud, and the groove is on the trem, so it's the opposite of a Floyd. This is actually pretty smart, because if the knife edge gets too worn, you replace the studs and not the trem. The knife edge is the very top of the stud screw, and this should sit inside the groove on the trem baseplate. If there's nothing wrong with the studs, then I can't imagine what would be causing that. I have a Peavey Destiny with the Spyder, and there is no way I could ever see that happening. I'm sure there must be some other issue that's causing it. It's definitely not an inherant problem with the Spyder trem.

Listen to zeegs as he speaks correctly. The Kahler 2500 series shares the same setup and you would not believe how many guitars I've seen where customers said the trem is broken simply because they did not undersand how it was supposed to be setup to begin with.

Can you show us some close up pics of the trem and post area?
