Originally posted by 777 View PostBob, nice group shot!! I was thinking about ordering a GMW Clone of this guitar, but could you elaborate alittle more on the "its twice the FMIC Frankie in quality"?? I,m sure it has the same wood and hardware, but other than that, please let us know..........
i havent really played the FMIC...so its just a guess, from examining the
EVH at Las Vegas GC. Seemed rough, and cheap to my "eyes" anyway.
From what ive read from other forum members, who have played the FMIC... they feel that its a nice "$600 to $1200 guitar" too!
So really im guessing and i only have what ive actually played as
a reference point. But wow! Of the 3 GMW's ive played, all were silky smooth, and balanced well... fit a finish on par with the BEST Soloist
ive ever played. Everything just seemes to 'Work" and feel just right.
I wonder what Lee Garver does? Is it just the right size of body?
How it's routered out for the forearm access? Whatever it is...
these GMW's seem to be what a high dollar Fender Custom shop is..
Only 1/3rd the price! Im also comparing it to the 5150 Kramer..(actually a Musicraft neck/ Warmoth body) and while i like it allot, and
it plays great... it aint a pimple on any GMW ass! I paid $600 for my
5150 clone, and feel like i got a good deal, and it's easily worth it.
But at $1600.00 for this Frankenstrat by GMW...i feel that its more like
a $2800 CS Charvel in quality, and a steal at this price! Used from Tim.
Just does everything right! Ergonomics, tone...balance.. like an old
friend. :-)) Now i see why Tim and many others own 5 to 10 GMW's!
They are that nice, and a bargain compared to what pricing has done
lately in the Jackson/Charvel camp. Do it!
Another thing i liked is that Lee left off the stupid "reflectors"...
If you want them...put them on yourself"! And im NOT!
I'll get some better close ups of the graphic front and back..
attention to detail, that's what GMW does best!
I hope Tim chimes in here...he's the expert, and i would trust his opinion
on these GMW's! I think he's on his 8th one?Last edited by Robert Burns; 02-29-2008, 08:29 PM.
