  • Dean V "White Gold"

I bought one of these last week on eBay. Should be here any day. Basically the import version of the Rik Emmett guitar. This will be my 4th Dean.

Congrats. Looks very nice! It is missing two frets and an ebony board like Rik's guitar, though.

This one came out a year before the Emmett model. That said it is a lower cost alternative to the sig model. Is this one made in Korea or China? Take some pics and let us know how this one turns out. I have been interested in these since the came out.

            The website says mahogany.

The '79 Series guitars are mahogany (which includes this guitar). My '79 ML is, my DOF is as well.

This is a Korean guitar. I had a China Dean.....for about 5 minutes. The Korean Deans are a lot of guitar for the money though.

Mine was all mahogony thank you very much. I checked the electronics cavity first thing and yes mahogony and made in Korea.
                  Very solid well made guitar.

Aren't most imports made of mahogany-variants though, not the true mahogany? Maybe that's what he means.

Mine was a dark red mahogony just like a Gibson I scraped a place in the cavity to see.

Isn't that the colour of the stain?

The wood is a brownish red.

It is true that there are many variants of mahogany. The issue is not so much which kind of wood or "mahogany" for that matter as much as the craftsmanship and SOUND of the guitar. In other words, let the guitar speak for itself.
