  • Westone Super Strat...

Have any of you guys checked one of these out? I found one in a pawnshop a couple of days ago and picked it up. This link shows pics of one exactly like mine except the color is different. Mine is white burgandy burst. It's a limited edition very Charvel-like super strat with a "Bendmaster Deluxe" trem, which is a Floyd copy. I really like this axe. It was made at the Matsumoku plant in Japan, and that is stamped into the neckplate. It's from 1987, and has the "Anniversary Edition" info printed on the trem plate cover. Came with original case, tools, tuner, 2 straps, wirecutters and extra strings in the case. Very, very good shape. I don't have a way to load pics of my actual guitar, but this one is just like it. Just wondering if anyone here has any experience with Westone axes. I'm really impressed with this one.

I had a Spectrum FX, IIRC, for the longest time. Neckthru, h/s/h with a 3-way switch near the upper horn and a vol/tone/tone layout that were all push-pull for a whole slew of tones. It also had the bendmaster trem, which was single locking. It was a good guitar, not great though. The frets seem to be a little small for my tastes. I never played it as much as my Model 2, and ended up doing a partial trade on it for a Model 6, but that was after owning it for 15 years.

I had one almost just like that in 90 or 91. Mine was a metallic salmon color. Got it at Sam Ash on W. 48th St. (I think that was the street) in Manhattan. I remember walking around New York with that fucker still in the box with my mom on our way to the train back to CT.

I had an 87 anniversary Corsair in teal very minty.Very solid guitar active pickups. The pawn dealer said the pickups were dead so I got it for $99.00 w/OHSC.Replaced the battery and played great.
Had an 88 neck thru X350 same bendmaster trem and it was a stellar player as well.
        Really? well screw Mark Twain.

I have a Paduak I, although unlike the one on that site mine came with a vintage-style trem. The pickup is coil-tapped and is a Gotoh dual-sound type pickup, and it has an onboard preamp which is great for leads. I got the guitar in 1982 and in 1985 changed the v-trem out for a Rockinger that was a direct changeout for a 6-screw V-trem.

I don't play it much anymore because the frets are pretty worn, but I really love it and played the shit out of it for years. They are a little goofy looking compared to the more C/J looking models, and the neck is pretty beefy and Fenderlike, but it was a great single-hum trem guitar.

          Congrats on your score.

I just picked up a westone Corsair similar to yours, but a reverse headstock. It plays and sounds great for the price.

Very cool! I thought some of you guys might have some of them. I keep forgetting to check and see if my pots are push pull. I haven't tried it yet. I know if I find another one of these locally I'll probably pick it up for sure.

Thanks man! I forgot to say what I paid...not a steal, but since it had all the original goodies with it I paid $200 for it. They were asking $269. The quality is right up there with the Charvel Model series, and I pay more than that for those all the time. So I didn't think it was a bad price.

I have a couple of Electras. That before Westone. They are pretty well made guitars. My Phoenix cost me $10.

Don't even attempt to keep up with fett... he's the bargain king.
He seems to have the nose (horns? antenna?) for finding the deals.
I'd say that's an OK price... especially if you play it/keep it/love it/enjoy it.

That wasn't my point. Damnit. I like Electras. My $10 one was a snag. But, I also have an Electra X135 that I paid $150.

They are nice wood-choppers, those MAT guitars.
Very yummy... and still can be had for cheap... how long will that last?
                          Shhhhh!
Let's buy 'em all, then talk about how nice they are.

Oh yeah...I know all about Fett. I don't post all that much, but I read a lot. And I've been around here a long time. Actually, I tend towards well-made less expensive guitars most of the time myself. Can't say I've found many for $10....or .99 cents!
