  • Got a Floyded strat:)

I just bought my self a Fender Strat.

It's a 80's Fender Hot rod stratocaster with a OFR.

    What do ya think?

It hasn't come yet, these are the pictures from ebay

    It should be coming Friday

Looks cool, but the hot-rod strats I knew of came with Floyds and bridge hums from the factory, whereas the trem route (Kahler Spyder?) and the enlarged humbucker route / pickup ring on the pickguard make that one look modified to me....

Rare is not the same as valuable
Worth is what someone will pay, not what you want to get

Yep, looks modded to me too. Still, the guitar looks to be in good shape. It should be fun!

I used to have an HRR strat, that doesn't look like one. Heres some info:

After years of continual research and updating, the 9th Edition Blue Book of Electric Guitars is now over 1,000 pages! Hundreds of new B&W and color images have been added, and once again, the Photo Grading System? continues to be the only printed reference on guitar grading. Over 1,000 manufacturers and trademarks are listed, and major sections like Gibson and Fender are now large enough to be published by themselves. Also includes most new model listings and up-to-date pricing for both current and vintage instruments. Additionally, extensive serialization listings to help accurately date instruments and a complete Trademark Index are also provided, with contact information available on all current manufacturers/trademarks of electric guitars and related products. The Blue Book of Electric Guitars is now the industry standard reference source for reliable information and up-to-date pricing.

I think it was an HM Strat or something along those lines, as that does look like a Kahler route of some kind. I also notice it has Carvin pickups, that should sound pretty cool. Congrats!

I'm thinking about routing my strat for a Floyd or switching the body out.

The thing to watch with the Fender floyd rose guitars is the radius of the neck. The floyd has a 10 degree radius and most Fender necks of that era are 9.25 so the low and high E strings sit higher off the fingerboard. The Kahler'd Fender's had 10 -12 degree necks so I hpoe the neck is original.
The Fender Floyd Rose strats play like doo doo IMO
                  Really? well screw Mark Twain.

Thanks, I got this for $230 I thought it was a good price so I went for it.
The guy I got it from said it has Seymour Duncans but I thought they looked like Carvins too... I hope the neck is original I'll look it over when I get it.

Thanks for all of the info.
