  • modded my Strat

I bought a scalloped neck stratocaster from Denmark Street about year ago now. I never liked the bridge pickup so after a while of thinking of what to do, I finally thought of making it look like an 80's shred machine. So I bought a Black scratch plate and SD JB trembucker and a router. Here's the result

    Before:

    after:

I done all the wiring myself and there doesn't seem to be any issues. So I'm quite proud about that. My Dad helped me out with the routing though.

i'd have kept the neck and middle singlecoils myself but that has a very classic late 70s early 80s hot rod vibe. how easy was it to dig the hole for the bucker and where did u get the router from?

Routing was pretty easy by the look of it, but the only problem I had was the screws for the pickup height were too long so I had to cut them down. Just enough to fit a humbucker in and I got the router from Homebase for £40.

Cheers Tony. Kinda thinking of putting a non-recessed floyd rose on there too. I've always wanted a Strat with a floyd rose.

Know what you mean there. I built a strat last year and have already changed the bridge pup to a hot rails but that's still not powerful enough for me. I was also looking at doing the floys thing to it. I've put that on hold for the mo as I want to get a white Gibson V
