I saw Slash live once with Velvet Revolver and it was bad.. I mean really bad. Solos were sloppy as hell and he tried to glue his notes somewhat together with his wah.

Seriously, I thought the worst solo I ever heard was Ace Frehley during a Kiss concert. I was embarassed for him.
When I saw Slash he made Ace look like a guitar God. I almost fell asleep during the Slash solo.

OK, let me think about this...

Yep, I'd rather be shit and have Mr. Slash's bank balance than be master of my own guitar room.

It's kind of weird, when I saw GnR in 88 in the UK I didn't really rate them. I was more into thrash then and Megadeth were on the same bill, which I really liked. Now, I can't listen to the stuff I used to like without cringing, but I can listen to the GnR stuff. I dunno, taste changes with age I suppose.
Fwopping, you know you want to!

That's so true.... I've grown to dislike him even more with time. Now is just pure angst.

All i remember is seeing GnR. in 92' i think? Phx, Az...and Slash was dead on! Screaming soaring leads...perfectly played. I' consider him one of
the greats. Certainly had a style that stood out, from every other clone.

I think most people here have probably hear SCOM one too many times, but you gotta give the dude props for creating a killer guitar tone and nailing some great solos on that. Maybe the bottle caught up to him as far as work ethic and being able to consistently bringing his "A-game" goes?

I saw Slash live with VR a few years ago, and have always been a big GNR fan.

To be fair, he has his brilliant days and his rather sloppy off days... But when he's on, he's awesome

I hated GNR for the longest time, Slash in particular. My buddy left his copy of "Appetite" in my tape player (that's right, TAPE) a few months back and suggested I listen to it. I ended up playing it after exhausting my MP3 collection a few weeks later and I'll be damned if I wasn't humming slash solos the rest of the day. It was actually quite a liberating experience for me. I feel Slash has helped me move out of my shred stage into my more soulful and melodic stage. To this day I'm not a GNR fan but "Appetite" is now easily one of my all time favorite albums.

Slash's playing, to me, embodies the lethargic and care-free attitude that is rock n' roll.

You got that right and he takes it to a whole new level.

Lethargic is what I call his playing and care-free is what I call to what he does to that pubic conglomeration of hair he calls head quilt.
I'll bet he smells like a 3 day old grocery store dumpster.

Me too, I dig the narrower fretboard and I thought it sounded better.
