  • 1984 Gibson Les Paul

Saw this one on Craigslist and could not pass it up. I met the seller last night and brought "Betty" home (Betty is the inspectors name written inside the neck pickup cavity!) There is little info on these however what I can gather is the guitar is basically an early Studio version with the factory Kahler (not a flat top like a Special). It is in good shape for a 24 year old guitar, but it has some battle scars. The owner did not have the bar for it so I have one on order. The Dimarzios sound great in it....I checked the bridge and its the good ole 2 wire DP100. Nice tone. The neck has the smaller frets (like my Explorer) and plays really nice.

I am really happy I found this one. The price was right and it is an uncommon Les Paul, pretty cool.

    Anyhow...enough babbling...here are the pics....

          1. That's a cool guitar.
          2. When you need a Kahler arm you should order from FretsOnTheNet. Great service, excellent quality product, and way less spendy than Kahler stuff.
My Duncan Designed pickups are way better than Seymour Duncan regular pickups you fanboy.

Yeah...too bad the forum doesn't have a minimum IQ.

I should have thought about that! Dave "Budman" has made all the parts for my RR's.

I ordered one through Kahlerparts.com......oh well. Sorry Dave!!!!!!!

Gibson's with Kahlers are pretty cool IMO.

I have a 1977 LP Custom natural with maple fretboard, and it has old DiMarzios in it as well- they sound great in these heavy wood bodies! I like the sound of the older DiMarzios better than any of the new ones myself, too-

I received the replacement Kahler bar....man I forgot how smooth these trems are! A lot different than a Floyd...not better, not worse, just different. I like it.....I like it a lot!
