I searched the forum and found that Planet Waves Auto Trims will fit nicely in Jackson tuner holes without any mods whatsoever....

but what about the San Dimas neck copy from Musikraft...

will they just pop in as well with no extra holes showing, and no extra hole drilling?

    Thanks

I just received my Musikraft neck and am going to install the auto trims. I ordered the neck with 10mm holes and the tuners fit in there nicely although I will have to drill the tab holes myself. No big deal though.

      pjg,
how do you find the quality of the neck/fretwork?

I haven't yet put the hardware on it or installed it on the body but it looks pretty awesome. The jumbo stainless frets look nice and level and the ends are smooth. The neck looks perfectly straight. I opted for the upgraded flame (thin D) with gloss vintage tint finish. I was a little leary of the gloss feel but wanted the stability of a finished neck considering the flame. I think the gloss will be OK after holding the neck in my left hand. For some reason it doesn't feel overly sticky.

        It wasn't cheap though.

That's right I forgot that Musikraft doesn't drill pilot holes on the headstock or the neck heel...

as long as the planet wave auto trims fit perfectly, that's what matters! But I wonder if Musikraft will drill the pilot holes if asked...anybody know?
At least holes in the neck heel would be good

I asked them to drill pickguard holes, and they don't even want to mess with that. I forgot to ask about the neck heel, dammit.

Can't wait to hear your thoughts after she's all together and you tear it up a bit.

They did predrill the heel. They would do it as long as standard Fender spacing was OK.

I hope to have it together and have some pics taken by Sunday night. It will be complete except for the custom headstock logo which is still on it's way. I also want to engrave the neck plate.

Well, to answer your first question, yes the 10mm holes are a perfect fit for the Planet Waves. They will drill just about anything you ask for. Just make sure everything gets done according to your order sheet. Pickguards can vary so much in the mounting hole department, so I can see why they steer clear of those. The quality of wood and fretwork is very good to excellent. My first few necks needed a little fretwork, but they have improved on that in the last year to where I don't need to touch any of the frets. I order them just sealed in Nelsonite and oil them when I get them in.
