  • Framus Akkerman guitar

Has anyone played or even seen one ?I'ld like to know what you thought of it?

I remember Rik Emmett played a sunburst one up until he got into Yamahas. I believe it was a semi hollow body.
I'm not afraid to bleed, but I won't do it for you.

Framus made a reissue some years ago, and this one should still be available, due to legal reasons they are not allowed to use Jan's name (I wrote the cease and desist to them on behalf of JA) but it is now called the JA74

that was indeed the case, I saw the reissue first at the Frankfurter Messe where I was with Jan and some friends (Jan was playing for Catalyst) I approached one of the sales guys and I asked whether they had permission to use Jan's name and he told me Jan should be happy that they used his name (free advertising). Problem was first off all that Jan had an exlusive endorsement with Catalyst at that time, secondly they were not willing to give any compensation at all, thirdly they never paid him for the original model because Framus went belly up shortly after the original model was issued (current Framus owners are the sons of the old Framus).
Also Jan designed the original model which he took with him to some other builders (o/a Robberts, Heins, Catalyst) and was not to happy they used it without asking him beforehand or even informing him that they were going to use it advertising it under the Jan Akkerman name which is a registered trade mark.
Framus then made an offer for one free guitar and the obligation for Jan to play Framus exclusively (without any further compensation) which Jan ofcourse declined.
Last year they tried again making a better offer and a percentage off every guitar sold with his name but Jan is quite stubborn and doesn't really need the money so he told them to piss off.
