I was just comparing these two, i put my Warrior body up against the Killer, it's the Killer for me, i think i always was on the line about the War, it looks cool sometimes, then other times looks a bit out of proportion, i think the only reason i really liked it is that it reminded me of the Killer body shape.

Gonna get some pics of my 17 year old unfinished home built that i spoke of in my first post, need batteries, i killed them shooting Pron on the red one

J_A - damn that sucks, i wonder if it can be repaired somehow, have you taken it out in the last years, possibly it has straightened a bit or something?

I think they can come back around with time, patience, and heating pads/weights.
String tension and truss rod tension are not the only ways to move a neck around.

I have always loved those guitars and LOUDNESS. I have yet to see one of the Killer axes in person. Congrats on your score. Certainly a classic already. It is....for lack of a better word, Killer!!!

One question, is the plug in jack kind of awkward? It looks like it would dig into the side of you when playing. I don't understand the reasoning behind that placement.

Several repairs were attempted.. heat methods etc & eventually removing the frets, plaining the board etc which lasted awhile, but it came back. One of these days I'd like to have someone make a replacement neck.

I did have it out about a year ago or mabe a little more & it was the same. It still kicks ass from the 7th fret up : )

I certainatly didnt mean to brind any sadness to a NGD That guitar is... (sorry) killer!

I'm going to see if I can find some loudnes cd's now... I have not heard loudness since I had a record player

No, it doesn't stick out at all really, because of the angle it's at somewhat comes flush with the body, also i'm skinny so
For using a wireless it be perfect, because it's so close to the strap you can connect your transmitter while having it clipped to your strap, without a loop of chord ar anything obstructing freedom of movement. I wouldn't mind if it was on the bottom of the body, but this doesn't bother me.

I see, well damn you tried that's for sure. I was curious how you got it, like from where, and if you had to have it shipped across the water or did the neck go south right away? Possibly a climate change affected it ?

I love that burst! It's one of the coolest "Killer"s I've seen, a lot of the solid finishes don't do it for me for that body shape somehow.

It was hanging on the wall at 48th st customs or whatever they were called at the time. I saw it, picked it up for about 10 seconds, told them I was buying it & then asked "how much is it?" I have not been up that way for several years now, but that was ESP heaven in there back then.

I'm going to have to dig it out over the weekend. Looking at these pics got me all nostalgic

I've been on a Loudness kick for quite a few weeks. All I can add is that my SL2H with the stock TB4 pickup nails Akira's tone perfectly. I'm guessing he was using a JB back then?

                  J_A/540s,

It might be cool to make a neck with that 3+3 headstock from the 80's. It's kind of a strange headstock for a pointy, but would look very authentic.

And we still haven't heard what the hell MZA means????

edit: Must post my favorite Loudness tune

Japanese heavy metal band Loudness with PV of "Heavy Chains" song from fifth, most popular group's album called "Thunder in the East" (1985). Song came from ...

I've discovered Akira's secret - check out the white boots right before the solo....Magic Boots! i must gets me some

MZA means nothing, they were using it as a placeholder during recording
cause they couldn't think of what to put there yet (umm, how bout "Hey, Hey, Hey"),lol, so when it was time to master it just got left on there.

Wanna see some "Magic Boots" check out Akira in 1978 with his first band Lazy. Mind you it's total boy band pop for that era, so prepare for ultimate cheeze, HOWEVER, listen to Akira, he's got an awesome tone and vibrato even then he was already a pro, and check out the FANCY FOOTWORK!! LOL, have a go at that while your playing!!

The danelectro coke bottle looking head? That's a good idea.

I had always assumed "MZA" was some Japanese thrown in for good measure

+1 - That's what it is - a Danelectro headstock. 1/2 of me says it looks butt ugly, but you will never see anyone else with a pointy and that headstock.

Just think is Gibson had put the Les Paul headstock on a Flying V or an Explorer....

I always thought those guitars looked like blocks of Lego, but like the 80's appeal of the red one you scored. (Sorry, but that burst one is just ALL wrong! :ROTF

SO now you get to pray my favourite Roudness/Akira tlack : "EXPRODER"!!!!
So I woke up,rolled over and who was lying next to me? Only Bonnie Langford!

                            Nice score!

I dig the solid color red one more than the burst.

A friend of mine posited a theory about what MZA is an abbreviation for, based on the fact that all of the members of Loudness at the time except Akira had first names that started with the letter M.

                            Munetaka Zettai Ahoyanen!
                            Masayoshi Zettai Ahoyanen!
                            Minoru mo Zettai Ahoyanen!

Which, translated from the Osaka dialect, means:

                            Munetaka is an absolute moron!
                            Masayoshi is an absolute moron!
Minoru is an absolute moron too!

Maybe Akira was mad at his bandmates while he was writing "Crazy Night"?

Minoru Niihara, the lead singer said in an interview:

"Actually it does not have any meaning. When we were doing pre-production for the Thunder in the East album, I did not have any lyrics for Crazy Night then, so I sung total nonsense as a guide vocal for the demo recording. I sung “M.Z.A.” by accident and the producer Max Norman liked the line, even though that did not have any meaning. We were trying to create some cool line but we could not beat “MZA.” Max ended up deciding to use ”M.Z.A.” for the real take"

Hey Rsmacker, out of curiosity, how is the letter Z pronounced over there in England?

"ZEE" like in the states? or "ZED"?
