  • Lado flying V part 2

    Here are the new pics.

I basically gave her a good bath, conditioned the board, relocated the lower strap pin, re-wired her with new pots, installed new knobs, touched up the dings, re-grooved the nut for 10-52s, and gave her a proper set-up. When I'm really feeling industrious, I'll strip the hardware again, and get out the buffing compound, but until then, I think she looks and feels much better.

This guitar is apparently one of a total of 25 made, and this one is serial number 001. Handmade in Canada by Joe Kovacic. 3 piece maple neck thru, with maple wings. Unbelievably comfy neck! Made in late 70's or early 80s.

    I'm a vee-aholic!!!

    Nice!

I have yet to try a Lado guitar, but have heard great things. I did a luthiery course with one of the original builders from Lado.

    Maybe he did ures...

Nice trim ring around the humbucker. I haven't seen that before.

        Woh,,,Zeegler, that looks awesome.

V's are shaped much better, and angle the neck the right way.

after playing my fusion for an hour, my wrist becomes sore because of the poor playing angle..

        Nice score..

I'd love to see another group shot of all the axes...

I'll have to do that. Sadly, most of the Jacksons are gone now. The KV1 is the only one left. The others are the Lado, a very rare Washburn, and an equally rare Japan market Aria Pro Custom X. I wish I still had my Larrivee Voodoo. I guess I have a thing for unusual/rare Vs.

I'll take some pics tomorrow if it's nice out.
