Wow, I love the specs on that guitar. Is it Made in Mexico? Has anybody actually weighed one? I'm a little concerned about that.....I don't like a guitar to be much more than 8.5 pounds because I play standing up most of the time.

Also, is it contoured like a Strat on the front? Looks like it is in the pics, but I can't tell for sure.

Yep - MIM. I'll try to weigh it if I remember. The front is not contoured, but the rear is.

I did find something that would make the Root-a-caster a little cooler - binding!! This is kinda what I was seeing in my head:

It's over at www.chrisguitars.com Pretty cool if you ask me. Peavey does some interesting stuff!

Binding on Teles does look sweet.

                      Peavey makes some fine guitars.
                      I'm angry because you're stupid

                        These are nice.
Music 123 was blowing them out at 169.99 for awhile.

I didn't say anything about the shape, I asked if the mahogany has any effect on the sound of the guitar. I for one see a guitar and already have a mental sound I associate with that guitar and shape in my head. A good ash tele will snap and take your head off while a Strat made of the same wood sounds different to my ears. I think I'm with you with the bridge adding to the sound but I don't think it can be soley attributed to the bridge and its pickup. My nocaster twangs without it being plugged in and I can't attribute that twang to the pickup. Have you tried a rosewood tele and compared it to an ash one? There's a difference - appart from the fucking weight of the backbreaking reosewood tele.

However I disagree with your statement about body shape not effecting the sound of a guitar, I believe the shape will have an effect on the way the strings vibrate. The shape of an acoustic alters the way it sounds and projects, and I don't think you can disageree with me there?

There are so many factors that effect the sound the guitar makes, including the human body, you and I could play a guitar and I can almost guarantee it will sound different, for instance the notes I play will be in the wrong order!

I have that problem too - and I can't find the switch to shut off the "suck" effect I have on most guitars!

That is indeed a cool guitar. So cool, I ordered that exact one! I'm having them remove the inlays, so it'll be a blank board. Seems to be an awesome deal. Thanks for the images/link!

                                Were the inlays fake/adhesive?
