Nice one, 'stah. I played a 550 a few years ago and almost dropped my self-imposed Ibanez boycott to pick one up
Blue pickups would look better with a black 'guard, though.
As for the Duncan, I'll wager it's either a Distortion or a Custom. Pop the trem off and see what the sticker says.I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

Major Disappointment
UGH!!!!! Got it five minutes ago. Was more excited than an A.D.D. kid in a candy store.
*******MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT*********
The guitar is beat to hell and is not even CLOSE to playable condition. AND he failed to mention the 1.5" neck joint crack. Not a fine crack, A THICK DEEP CRACK. The pickguard is scratched to hell and it looks like it hasn't been played in years.
Nothing close to the pics or description.
This pisses me off. I've never had a bad experience on the Bay (knock on wood) until now. I wrote the guy back saying either take it back or I'm filing a complaint. I consider myself a knowledgeable person but I fell for these pics like a teenage girl for the star quarterback.
You can see his beautiful "studio" pics compared to the ones I just took.

Neck cracks are common on these, is there movement or is it just a very deep finish crack? My fave 560 has a worse crack than that appears to have it's the player out of the 3 RG 500s I own.
I can't really tell from your pics what condition the guitar is in but I'd expect scratches and swirls on a 19 year old pic-guard. Have you got better pics? How was it described in the auction?Fwopping, you know you want to!

That's what pisses me off. The auction pics make it looks SWWEEEEETTT!!
dude you look at the pics and his description and tell me. #310044059323
I expect scratches and such. Typical for an older guitar. I have 2 Ibby's with the cracks in the neck joint. I'm familiar with them. But this one is DEEP and LONGER than I've seen before. The pups are rusty. The pickguard has DEEP scratches, not surface swirls. There are multiple chips in the body. It needs A LOT of work. If I paid $200 for it fine. But I paid $430 and I expect from the pictures and description for it to be in excellent shape and ready to play.
Coming from the condition of the strings this thing hasn't been played in years07 Ibanez J Custom RG8470RS, 92 Ibanez RG770EG, 91 Ibanez RG565EG, 90 Ibanez RG550CM, 90 Jackson USA Fusion, 89 BCRich Assassin, 85 Ibanez Roadstar II RS440RV, 05 Takamine AN-10

That neck pocket crack is very common.
EDIT: I looked at the auction, I don't think it was misrepresented in any way. Look at that fretboard, quite dirty. That shows me it's been played. So if it's been played you have to assume it's got scratches and chips in it. In the pics you can see the neck pocket crack. Maybe you didn't ask enough questions? The guy says in the auction he doesn't play guitar. Caveat emptor.Last edited by Bengal; 05-05-2008, 02:29 PM.I'm angry because you're stupid

It may not be super minty but for $400 bucks I'd take it. (but then I'm in the UK where we would have to pay over the odds for a plank strung with elastic bands)
Just out if interest what causes the crack at the neck pocket and is it anything to ever worry about?, I ask as I recently bought a BC rich stII that has one, doesn't worry me as the neck is rock solid and it plays like butter...but enquiring minds want to know!
