Listen the early Whitesnake with Sykes to hear good Dirty Fingers pups.

Listen to Tom Delonge to hear the new ones.

Tom Delonge used Duncan Invaders for most of his career. Both are bland pickups with the older ones being slightly better than the new. Both are very muddy unless you have a midboost and are very careful with your EQ. They aren't bad pickups, but they're more trouble than they are often worth, like most super high output pickups.

John Sykes is exactly what I was thinking. I'll have to do a search for Tom Delonge.

            Yep +1 to that.

My buddy years ago had one in his black epiphone.
It sounded pretty darn good actually but feedback city.
He had to play with his back facing and a little distance between him and the amp or it started squealing. Aside from that a good little pickup, again I'm referring to the older dirty fingers.

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.

1983 was the best year for the Dirty Finger in my opinion. They sounded pretty damned good in Flying Vs, but where they really shined were when they were loaded in mahogany bodied Explorers.

I had an 86 Explorer with them and it just screamed. They are a great sounding pickup. Maybe you can find an older one to try on fleabay....

I have a new one in my Sykes Les Paul Custom. It's great, very high output.

IMO the older ones have the growl the new ones just are kinda trebly.

Scored a pair of '83 dirty fingers off ebay last night. I'm told they came out of an '83 Explorer.

Thanks for the fleabay tip, Chasbo!
