    Thanks guys! I've had a few days to get to grips with the guitar, and it's awesome. It's really loud acoustically and has an amazingly full sound - I have no idea if that's down to the extra bulk of the headstock or what, but it sounds great!

      I saw Washburn has a taxi finish on one of their V models. Same yellow with checkerboard looking bevels. Reminded me of yours when I saw the photo.

        Very sweet axe. Very unique. Excellent job on the design. I imagine it could have gone "off the tracks" a million different ways, but looking at it, clearly it did not.

          Ian, Just in case you (or anyone else) was wondering if there would be any things to worry about down the road on any splitting or issues due to the dissimilar fingerboard woods, GMW did a similar treatment on a Jackson I got from them about 10+ years ago, and the fingerboard is still in great shape, no issues at all.

              Awesome Guitar!!
              That is really sweet instantly recognizable, i'm reminded of Cheap Trick with that one.
