  • Just Scored a Killer Jem

I've wanted one of these ever since I played my first one (LNG) at Piano's n' Stuff near Pittsburgh back in late '87. I've owned a few over the years, but never the original LNG. I just found a one-owner example in mint, unplayed condition (still has the original strings!)...not a mark on it. Additionally, it has the very rare hand rest over the trem (these were quickly pulled from the market due to a copyrite infringement). This one should be in my hands next week.

    Here are the pics...enjoy:

Nice one. If I may, what did you pay for it?

Shame it doesn't have the original case. I'm sure you know those had a pyrimid on the outside with the number of the LNG on it. The cases were sweet.

Most people pulled those hand rests off and threw them away. Those can fetch a nice price. Yours does look unplayed. Look at that neckplate. Spotless.

          Congrats man!

Unbelievable score! Those are starting to be worth a small fortune. It is odd that it got separated from the original case, being unplayed and all.

I saw this in the Jemsite classifieds. The owner was asking $4200 for her. Nice JEM but definitely too rich for my blood.

Probably some assclown at the store the guy bought it at.

So somewhere there is a guitar in a MC1000 case with a pyrimid on the outside with the number 366 on it.

Seems to me I remember something about European LNG's not having the case. I may be wrong on that but I think I remember something like that. So maybe it came from Europe.

$4200 doesn't seem like a bad starting point. Maybe Rupe got him down some or traded something sweet for it.

Quite a while ago, over 10 years, I had #213. It was pretty mint. No dings or nothing but I played it a little bit. Had everything but the case was a bit worn. I traded it for a 1977 Les Paul Custom and a 1981 Les Paul Standard. I thought I got a great deal at the time.

Course those LP's are long gone.

That is sweet! It's hard for me to believe that's a 20+ year old guitar.
My guess is the hand rest over the trem was a copyright owned by Kahler.

Thanks for the comments...I'm stoked to get this thing! As for the case, it is the original one. It's actually documented that some of these came in a Chesbro case like this rather than the one most of us (me included) thought they all came in (the ones that went to Japan actually only had gig bags). I did my homework before taking the plunge.
