lol its all good man. I mean you have to look at it in the sense that they're both high quality japanese guitars tho I.m not sure if the ib is an 'import' range guitar as surely by nature of its heritage all ibs are to us. The thing is the rr24 only does one thing and thats straight up metal. There's not much else a single emg81 is good for. I need far more versatility now for what i.m doing. I also love the straty feel of a maple board. Where you gonna go for a versatile high end rock and metal guitar with a maple board? ...your answer is there

Was it a fair deal? Of course not! I have a far better guitar than what i traded ...from my perspective.

It is more versatile, no doubt.

Where would I go for a versatile high end rock and metal guitar with a maple board? Right now EB/MM. But that's me.

Both are high quailty. Those Ibanez fans will tell you the Ibanez is higher quality. They might be right. I've never played a RR24.

sweet score. I just traded my black Gambale for the Coral Mist one that was floating around here. You'll LOVE it. Fastest neck I've ever played. Faster than my USA Fusion.

        Furman PL-8 Series II, ADA 3TM MP-1 Ultra+, Axe-FX Ultra, rack tray (Axess Elec. BS-2, DOD FX90), Roland EV-5, Dunlop 535Q18v, VHT 2/50/2, Ground Control Pro, X2 Digital XDS95 W'less, (2) Bogner Cubes

The reissue RG550's (the only comparison for a new RG) are going for about £600-£700. Thats what a new RR24 goes for.

I've had about forty offers for this guitar on Jemsite and for deciedly more than $200 (even from americans) and the Desert Yellow is more desirable. The trade is fair. Its equivalent (or better) than a prestige model. Then you figure I paid circa £200 for the pick ups.

I wouldn't have traded this only I have other RG's and Jems.

btw. It is most certainly a 1991 and not all were matching headstocks. I prefered the black headstock, black pickguard combo.

Very cool guitar. Like Bengal, I go through love/hate phases with Ibanez but I'm in "love" mode right now

OK I stand corrected, I was always under the impression they transitioned to colour matching headstocks around 90. Having a dig around the old catalogues I see that I'm wrong.

Is it random then the colour of the headstock or is there some pattern to it?

With Ibanez, there is never a pattern.

I remember more 560's and 570's having the matching headstocks than the 550's. But some did have them, I've seen a DY550 that had the matching headstock. I'm sure they started it because they thought it looked cool, which it does, but then dropped it for a cost cutting measure.

I'm not sure about the cost saving. Its just another option really.

Sure it was. All the 550, 560, and 570 necks can be painted on the same line. 560 necks could be used for 570's and vice versa. Total cost cutting move.

Not that it's bad. It just is.

I like the Ibanez better. I'd love to have an RG like that.

That RG looks great. I love the yellow and the maple board.

Although I've had a few RGs, 770DX, 1570 etc, and no matter how much I liked the look of them, they never really seemed to work for me. I can't get used to Strat shapes at all. Although I scored a beater JEM that's being refinished so we'll see how that works out

You could wear that one under your chin and still cover up your junk! Much better than a Rhoads

There are a couple of Jems down my local pawnbrokers for a very good price (for Jems, anyway). Both have serials on the back of the headstock.

Unfortunately, both serials are exactly the same!

Congrats!! Def a classic and the price in the US for 550s is climbing as we are migrating back to shreddy playing..

I have a 1990 570 and it rips..I bought a reissue 550 and it was a monster too! I had to sell it cuz I needed the $$ and it didnt really offer anything my 570 cant do..
