  • Plywood Nirvana Part II

Here's what ended up happening with the basically free guitar I got from RobRR
It's so nice, it can't be described.
    Must be played.
    Neck is mightymite
    body is plywood
    mmmmm
sometimes, like this one and a peavey I gave to my sister in law, plywood works.
    LOL

Hey Spike, if that neck ever starts to move around and you need a good "shim" job, boy have I got a number you can call!

I have this horrid Cort Explorer shape thing called an Effector. Plywood with this super-cheesy effects system that is totally destroyed. I removed the system andit sounds so great but doesn't stay in tune for more than a minute because of the incorrectly installed brass nut.

There is one of those Effectors at a pawn shop close by and it does play pretty good and sounds very loud unplugged.I almost bought it just for the neck.
I had a plywood kramer with a killer maple/maple neck that sounded great had a real OFR on it too.
Just think this way plywood is "laminated tone wood".

I went ahead and bought it for the neck and plan on having an explorer body made for it and go tom bridge and stop tail. The pickups really scream believe it or not.
Everything works on it, the out of phase switch is the only cool thing it does the rest of the effects suck big time.

I remember those Effectors being in a Sears or J.C. Penney catalog, as a kid. Forgot all about them till I saw that pic.

Hey, you never know. I started out on a Harmony Les Paul copy that wailed. I must've gotten the good one, cause my brother got one just like it a year or so, later, and it sucked balls.
