They might be well made but... (company with a stupid name thread)
That pyramid stuff sounds like a bunch of baloney to me. I'd like to see some scientific documentation that explains what it does, and why it does it. Until I do, AFAIC it's just a stupid gimmick.
I've seen sound proofing panels in studios with the same pyramid configuration. I don't know the science behind it, but it must do something other than just look cool.

That's probably where he got the idea from. I don't see how it would help in a bass body. In a studio, isn't the idea to stop reflected sound? How would that help a bass, since if it wasn't hollow to start with, it wouldn't have that problem. What's wrong with solid body basses? I'm not claiming I know anything about this, but it sure sounds like a bunch of hooey to me, and you'd think it there was any scientific basis for it, the guy would provide some info. I say gimmick.

And you would be correct.
A semi-hollow doesn't have a large enough body for sound to reflect back into the pickups, which is the only consideration in this case.
I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood
The most human thing we can do is comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.
